TOMMY LEE: New Solo Single Posted Online
May 19, 2005MÖTLEY CRÜE drummer Tommy Lee's brand-new solo single, "Tryin' to be Me", has been posted online at TommyLee.tv: Windows Media, Real Media.
"Tryin' to be Me" comes off Tommy's third solo album, "Tommyland: The Ride", due on August 2. The CD will be released in conjunction with his new NBC reality show, "Tommy Lee Goes to College", which is scheduled to debut August 9 on NBC. Produced by Scott Humphrey, "Tommyland: The Ride" features guest performances by such established artists as Chad Kroeger of NICKELBACK, Carl Bell of FUEL, Deryck Whibley of SUM 41, Butch Walker, Joel Madden of GOOD CHARLOTTE, and Nick Carter of the BACKSTREET BOYS.
In a recent interview with MTV.com, Lee had the following to say about the upcoming CD: "This is more like my last record [2002's 'Never a Dull Moment'] than the METHODS OF MAYHEM record, which was all over the place. This one is right down the middle, it's not so hybrid. It has rock, pop, everything."
After his first two major-label solo albums failed to catch platinum fire, Lee has jumped off the major train for "Tommyland" and has hooked up with music distributor the Handleman company in a deal that aims to keep the album's retail price at around $10.
